Cookie Policy

The short version
- One essential cookie keeps you signed in. It cannot be switched off, because the service would not work without it.
- Analytics is optional, off by default, and switchable in Settings at any time.
- We honour Do Not Track — if your browser sends it, analytics never loads at all.
- There are no advertising cookies, and no third-party trackers on any page where a story is shown.
- We never use cookies to build a profile of a child.

2. Essential cookies
These are strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for, so they do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive or PECR. They carry no advertising identifier and are never shared.
3. Analytics — genuinely optional
We use PostHog to understand which parts of FablePond help and which get in the way. It is:
- Off until you accept it. No analytics script loads before you choose.
- Reversible. Turn it off in Settings at any time.
- Respectful of Do Not Track. If your browser sends a DNT header, analytics never initialises, whatever you clicked.
- Not element-level. Autocapture is disabled, so we do not record every click. We record a small set of named product events.
- Never child data. No child names, no story text, and no reader-profile details are ever sent to analytics.
4. No trackers where stories are shown
On any page where a story is displayed — the reader, public samples, and shared links — there are no third-party trackers of any kind. This is a deliberate design rule, not a side effect. Children look at these pages.
5. No advertising cookies
FablePond carries no advertising and sets no advertising cookies. We do not run retargeting pixels, we do not embed social sharing widgets that track, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. See the Privacy Policy.
6. How to change your mind
- In FablePond: Settings → Product analytics. One toggle, effective immediately.
- In your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a site. Blocking essential cookies will sign you out and prevent FablePond from working.
- Do Not Track: enable it in your browser and we will never load analytics, regardless of any earlier choice.
7. Changes to this policy
If we add a cookie or a category, we will update this page and ask again for consent where consent is required. The date at the top reflects the current version.
